Michael Beasley used “too much marijuana” in the past but Minnesota’s new power forward is maturing and was worth acquiring from Miami despite his off-the-court issues, the president of the Timberwolves said Thursday.

Sports Radio Interviews Michael Beasley became the odd man out in Miami when LeBron James decided to bolt Cleveland for South Beach. The Heat needed to trade Beasley to clear cap room to sign James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and a supporting cast. They traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for second-round draft picks in 2011 and 2014.

Minnesota Timberwolves fans must feel great right now, and with good reason.  Obtaining Michael Beasley while giving up just a second round draft pick seems almost too good to be true.  Unfortunately, it may still be. The Miami Herald reported in their Sunday edition that Minnesota Timberwolves General Manager confirmed that he had contacted the Heat about trading for Michael Beasley. The deal would have sent Beasley to the Wolves and Ryan Gomes to the Heat. The Heat could have got 4 million in cap space had they made the deal.
